Position Overview: The Small Business Specialist is responsible for managing and expanding a portfolio of small business customers previously assigned to Financial Center Managers and Business Bankers. This role presents an opportunity to enhance customer relationships by delivering tailored banking solutions across both small business and consumer banking needs. Additionally, the Small Business Specialist will engage in business development activities to grow the portfolio, including the acquisition of new clients. The role requires a deep understanding of small business and consumer banking products and the ability to identify opportunities for cross-selling and referrals to other banking partners and lines of business. Essential Functions:
- Maintain regular, quarterly contact with the assigned portfolio to reinforce the Bank's commitment to supporting clients' business growth and financial needs.
- Conduct comprehensive financial reviews to assess the current business and consumer banking needs of the portfolio, offering tailored solutions for credit and deposit products.
- Proactively identify and refer clients to other partners and lines of business when the customer's needs extend beyond the Small Business Specialist's scope.
- Generate new business relationships through business development activities, including networking, community involvement, client entertainment, and referral cultivation.
- Collaborate closely with Financial Center locations to provide support for existing portfolio clients and create strategies for attracting new high-value relationships.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable banking regulations, policies, and procedures to safeguard the Bank's integrity and reputation.
- Utilize expertise in both small business and consumer banking to drive growth in the portfolio and expand customer relationships.
- Partner with other teams to deliver comprehensive solutions that meet client needs, enhancing client retention and satisfaction.
- Identify and capitalize on cross-selling opportunities for the Bank's breadth of products and services, leveraging a strong working knowledge of available solutions.
- Actively engage in sales activities, community events, and networking opportunities to increase visibility and foster new business development opportunities.
- This
position may require travel within the Bank's geographic area.
Experience & Education:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in consumer and small business banking or a related field, with demonstrated experience in business development and portfolio management.
- Strong background in sales and client relationship management within the financial services industry.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Four-year college degree preferred.
Skills & Qualifications:
- In-depth understanding of small business and consumer banking products, including credit and deposit solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of business clients, including experience with relationship management, defined contact strategies, and client acquisition.
- Proven track record of successful business development and lead generation within the banking or financial services sector.
- Strong knowledge of the Bank's product offerings and the ability to identify opportunities for cross-selling and engaging other departments to fulfill client needs.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for both internal collaboration and external client interactions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple relationships effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment to drive business outcomes.
- Energetic, self-motivated, and driven to succeed in a fast-paced banking environment, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, and customer service orientation.
- Proficient in using banking software and tools to manage client relationships and support business development efforts.
Other Requirements:
- Positive and adaptable attitude, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Register and maintain registry as a Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry and in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the S.A.F.E. Act).
- Meet and maintain financial responsibility, character and general fitness standards along with all other established requirements for an individual Loan Originator (LO) in accordance with Regulation Z.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull weights or otherwise move objects weighing as much as 10 lbs. on a regular basis and/or for extended periods of time during the workday.
- Occasional overtime or extended hours may be required.
