The RT assists in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiopulmonary diseases and related disorders in a professional and competent manner. The RT participates in providing patient and family education. The RT may assess a patient's respiratory status and recommends appropriate therapy. Requirements: Education: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or a Certificate of Completion from an AMA accredited program in Respiratory care is required. Experience: 1 years of acute care experience care preferred. Certification/Licensure: MA Respiratory Care licensure, completion of one general clinical practices credentialing examination from the NBRC, and hold a current CRT or RRT, achieve NRP (within 6 months of hire); BLS, PALS, and ACLS preferred Software/Hardware: Experience with Meditech is preferred. Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to satisfactorily explain respiratory therapy/pulmonary function test procedures to patients. Respiratory Therapy Clinical Practice Guidelines.
