Job Summary

Provide specialized instruction and support services to develop combat leaders, highly trained recovery specialists and military freefall jumpmasters in support of Air Force Special Warfare (AFSPECWAR) at Davis-Monthan AFB. As a JTAC Instructor, you will be training on approved course curriculum to assist in maintaining fully mission capable Pararescue Jumpers (PJ), Combat Rescue Officers (CRO), Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) Specialists, and other AFSPECWAR specialist.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Provides instruction to students on AFSPECWAR related Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs):
  • Small Unit Tactics (SMUT), Control of military aircraft in support of combat operations.
  • Control of Drop Zone (DZ) Operations during training iterations.
  • Conduct instruction on Close Air Support for combat operations, teach capabilities and limitations of military aircraft, act as Drop Zone Controlling Officer and Drop Zone Safety Officer (DZCO/DZSO).
  • Assist in syllabi and instructional courseware development
  • Assist in the process for maintaining accountability for instructional material and student reference products such as collections (e.g. the syllabi of instruction (SOI's), student critiques and end of course critiques, After Action Reports (AAR's), and consolidated inputs from other instructors into weekly Commanders Update Brief (CUB)
  • Highly Desirable: Serve in military parachuting duties which encompass High Altitude Low Opening (HALO) and High-Altitude High-Opening (HAHO) operations. Member may assist in MFF Jumpmaster Course support and to support airborne operations
  • Support activities to support training requirements, including but not limited to operating safety boats, wing boats, advanced rescue crafts (ARC), and off-road tactical vehicles.

Required Qualifications and Education
  • Must be a former qualified JTAC assigned to SOF unit for a minimum of 5 years within the past 10 years
  • 5 years' experience in SOF unit in last 2 decades. SMUT, MOUT, CQC instruction experience. INDOPACOM experience. 2-years' experience instructing at FTU or equivalent institution.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of military instructor experience at a Formal Training Unit or an equivalent institution.
Preferred Qualifications and Education
  • USAF Instructor Course is desirable
  • Military Freefall Jumpmaster
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
  • Secret
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Perform training operations which will require the individual to maintain a level of physical fitness that is commensurate with the typical special operator.
  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk carrying 75lbs of equipment for up to four hours duration.
  • Must be able to lift 225lbs from the floor to waist height.
  • Must also be able to handle class C explosives, munitions, hazardous materials, and corrosive fuels.
  • Travel: 20%
