Mass Market and Monthly Giving Specialist, Development and Communications

Location: Washington, DC (hybrid)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Mass Market and Monthly Giving Specialist supports the Mass Markets team with creative development, production, reporting, and execution of monthly giving, canvassing, telemarketing, peer-to-peer, digital, and offline fundraising campaigns. They ensure monthly donors and key audiences receive high quality, accurate appeals, cultivations, and messaging. They are an effective project manager, clear communicator, creative and strategic thinker, data-driven, and strong relationship builder.

The Mass Market and Monthly Giving Specialist closely integrates and collaborates on projects with other teams and external agencies for all mass market channels. They gather content for fundraising communications, document processes, manage projects, and ensure campaign deliverables and approvals are met. They also provide quick and efficient communication across teams, including during rapid response fundraising moments. They work to increase the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and create an engaging experience for key constituents as part of the larger donor journey.

** Position is expected to be in Project HOPE's office at least 3 days/week (or more depending on key projects throughout the year).

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monthly Giving Program Execution


  • Coordinate sustainer acquisition, conversion, reactivation, and upgrade campaigns across channels
  • Project manage special initiatives to optimize sustainer operations, processes, creative, and strategies
  • Create presentation decks and run quarterly trainings for canvassers and telemarketers
  • Coordinate with Donor Services and agency partners to address donor inquiries
  • Maintain documentation of the sustainer journey and identify areas to optimize the donor experience
  • Audit and improve data processes, and share data files with agencies
  • Support the daily communication and coordination with external sustainer agencies and internal team.

Mass Market Team Support and Coordination


  • Support the execution of some digital campaigns (email, SMS, digital ads), key offline campaigns (direct mail, canvassing, telemarketing), peer-to-peer/streaming initiatives, and other fundraising projects, including during emergency fundraising moments and year-end fundraising campaigns. Ensure deadlines are met at each stage of production.
  • Execute cross-channel welcome series, acknowledgments, and automated communication streams.
  • Maintain mass market fundraising campaign plan and calendar, testing roadmap, and project roadmaps for planning and sharing across teams.
  • Edit, proof, and help fact-check fundraising copy, art, and live proofs for accuracy, typos, and styling conflicts. Route copy for review. Provide consolidated feedback to team, writers, and agencies.
  • Participate in fundraising brainstorms and conduct peer research to develop ideas, inform new strategies, and generate fundraising opportunities.
  • Coordinate across the team and with Operations to support data needs, create donation forms, and track source codes. Manage creative requests and share content with internal and external teams

Project Management and Administrative Support


  • Document strategies and maintain digital archive of strategies, creative, notes, and important documents.
  • Maintain supply of Project HOPE materials/premiums for donor stewardship, get quotes, and manage the shipping process for key donor outreach and incentivized campaigns.
  • Provide administrative support including some scheduling, routing contracts and state registrations for review, and expense tracking.
  • Other duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • BA/S in Marketing, Communications, or relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience or understanding of marketing/fundraising concepts and strategy, graphic design, editing, copywriting, proofreading, and production.
  • 2-3 years of experience in monthly giving, direct marketing, digital fundraising, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience managing short and long-term projects from planning to completion in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks - especially during emergency fundraising moments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - both written and oral.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, within a team environment, and with diverse internal constituencies in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with MS Office and other relevant software.
  • Must be available when needed on nights and weekends during emergency fundraising moments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Experience with the following:
  • Partnering with and communicating with multiple vendors and/or agencies.
  • Copyediting and proofreading.
  • Working with fundraising CRMs such as Luminate and Raisers Edge NXT.
  • Canvassing, telemarketing, email and other digital and offline channels.
  • Project management tools like Asana and Microsoft Share Point.
  • Affinity for global health and international development and fundraising.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be mobile in an office environment and able to use standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate in verbal and written form and must be able to travel in the U.S..

Work environment:



  • Typical office environment with exposure to a minimal noise level.
  • Occasional travel within the U.S. to Project HOPE's DC office, agency partner offices, or other cities.
  • Project HOPE employees may have the option to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as "hardship."



Salary range starting at $65,000 USD per year based on candidates residing in the US. Compensation for the role is dependent on several factors including a candidate's location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
