Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical engineering assignments associated with designing consumer and industrial satellite telecommunications products.
- Under minimal guidance, prepare intermediate to advanced level specifications for project assignments detailing performance requirements, specific component needs, design requirements, and drawing requirements
- Prepare engineering sketches, perform engineering calculations and develop analysis models for moderately complex project assignments
- Review and/or approve vendor drawings for compliance with project specifications
- Interact and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors and other consultants
- Set realistic expectations and ensure assigned projects are completed according to schedule and within budget
- Develop and execute environmental and mechanical test plans to verify compliance with specifications and requirements
- Manage supplier and vendor technical approval processes to ensure manufacturing standards are adhered to
- Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure designs are manufacturable and develop complex assembly procedures
- Adhere to company quality standards and follow engineering checking and approval procedures
Required Skills and Experience:
- BS or MS degree, in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of five years of post-college experience in a mechanical engineering position, preferably involving consumer electronics
- Hands on expertise with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM
- Experience writing requirements or technical specifications driven from high level user stories
- Ability to prototype designs quickly for evaluating new concepts and managing risks
- Experience with antenna integrations into product housings.
- Experience with high volume plastic mold design for manufacturing
- Experience using a bug tracking system or software managed development process (e.g., JIRA)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively
- Able to self-manage and prioritize multiple projects with aggressive due dates
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks of yourself and others
- Strong communication skills
- Must maintain a high level of energy and positive attitude through challenging situations and project demands.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to work both independently and within a team environment.
