The Field Generator Technician will install, maintain, and repair stand-by power equipment (field generators) and associated electrical wiring and equipment, supporting SKSG on Tower Systems Sustainment and Tower Upgrade/Deployment activities up to 500' in height. The technician will be responsible for scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of stand-by power equipment (diesel/propane generators, including Generac, Kohler, Kubota, Cummins, CAT, etc.). The work spans field services with occasional assignments to the warehouse and other duties.
Standby Power Generator
- Assemble, install, test, diagnose, repair, and maintain stand-by power equipment using hand and power tools.
- Ability to work from schematics, blueprints, drawings, technical diagrams and bulletins.
- Pre-order parts and materials required to perform assigned repairs and maintain inventory.
- Plan methods and sequence of performing repairs assigned.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components of the stand-by power system, using test equipment and hand tools to identify the cause and to correct the problem.
- Perform Preventative Maintenance on towers, power, communications, and sensor systems, including generator maintenance.
- Perform all work in accordance with all established safety, policies and procedures.

Driving
- Load material or equipment for transport from the shop to the job site and secure as appropriate to prevent damage or safety risks.
- Transport materials and equipment to and from job sites.
- Operate all company vehicles in accordance with local laws/regulations in a safe and courteous manner at all times.
- Conduct daily inspections of the vehicle and immediately report any problems or damage, or maintenance issues to your manager or the fleet manager.
- Keep assigned vehicles clean and orderly.
- Comply with all DOT and in-house regulations and rules.
- Complete a daily electronic log and submit reports weekly of mileage/hours.

- Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety program.
- Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
- Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself or endanger the well-being of others.
- Cooperate with safety personnel, supervisors, and managers to ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company's Safety Policies.

Reporting
- Perform timecard updates daily and sign timecards weekly to support reporting and payroll activities.
- Perform job-related reporting of work tickets, outages, troubleshooting processes, work completion, and reporting.
- Ensure all inventory documentation is completed for property transfers.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required paperwork and documentation in accordance with the project, requisite contract, ITL, SKSG, and S&K corporate policies.

- Participate as a vital crew member and contribute towards the success of the project and the organization.
- Promote a team approach and maintain communications with all employees to exchange information, gather ideas, and promote process improvements.
- Collaborate with other company personnel to meet organizational deadlines and objectives.
- Assist Field Support Representatives on his/her team when tasked.

Education |
- High school diploma/GED (College degree or trade school preferred).
|
Experience |
- Two (2) years of generator technician experience.
|
Licenses/ Certification/ Registration |
- Current driver's license required (Commercial driver's license preferred).
- Proof of U.S. citizenship.
- Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Card, if no CDL, due to gross weight on vehicles (CDL is preferred).
- Must be able to complete and maintain OSHA-10, authorized tower climbing and rescue, CPR, AED, R.F., basic principles of rigging, and First Aid certifications within 180 days of hire.
- By end of first year, must have completed manlift/forklift operator's license/certification and competent tower climbing and rescue.

Special knowledge, skills, & abilities |
- Must have basic knowledge of electricity and the ability to diagnose engine issues and examine serviceable parts for defects and excessive wear.
- The technician will ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes and OSHA safety standards.
- This position requires working in all weather conditions, day or night, working inside buildings under construction, renovation facilities or outdoors on power, tower, broadcast, surveillance, and telecommunications systems.
- The ideal candidate will be capable of working with minimal oversight and willing to follow directions and adhere to and closely follow corporate, project, safety, construction, and tower climbing standards.
- Understand and use non-verbal commands for heavy equipment operation.
- Experience using M.S. Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment, DOT medical screening, post-offer background check, and drug screening.
- Work schedule will require open availability, including weekends, holidays, and overnights as determined by the needs of the business; must be flexible.
