In this role, you will support the Production Manager in overseeing operations, managing budgets, and handling human resources for the Production department, which includes multiple subsections. You will play a key role in fostering a positive and equitable work environment, ensuring operational excellence, and upholding quality and safety standards. This position requires strong leadership, the ability to motivate a team, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement. Key Responsibilities: Supervisory & Leadership
- Assist in managing the Production department, ensuring daily operations run smoothly.
- Motivate and inspire team members to achieve and exceed performance expectations through recognition and coaching.
- Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to in alignment with organizational standards.
- Hold team members accountable to clear expectations while fostering a respectful and inclusive work environment.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing constructive feedback and performance evaluations.
Operational Management
- Support the Production Manager in overseeing all aspects of production, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and quality.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve operational challenges efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate with relevant teams to address stock needs and minimize disruptions.
- Step in as needed to maintain workflow and operational consistency.
Quality & Safety
- Maintain compliance with food safety and quality standards.
- Ensure processes meet or exceed customer and organizational quality requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety by enforcing proper protocols and addressing any hazards promptly.
- Investigate and document incidents or accidents, ensuring timely resolution.
Human Resources
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members.
- Approve timecards, manage schedules, and address attendance discrepancies.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and corrective actions to improve team performance.
- Support employee retention efforts by fostering a positive and engaging work environment.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a production or food service environment.
- Experience managing teams in fast-paced, high-volume settings.
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, HR policies, and employment laws.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and food safety standards (e.g., HACCP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in production, food service, or similar environments.
- Proven ability to handle conflict and de-escalate challenging situations effectively.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting data and managing risk.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a cold environment and tolerate moderate to loud noise levels.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Regular walking and standing required to inspect the production floor.
