Qualifications Job Description Job Title: Instructional Designer Reports To: Training Manager Job Summary The Instructional Designer supports the training department's mission to provide all IES employees quality training content and resources. Under the direction of the Training Manager, the IES Instructional Designer will manage the LMS, and work with management on content development and delivery

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops and designs courses and curriculum. Edits and develops online learning materials. Creates learning experiences and environments. Designs learning activities, assignments, and assessments. Creates computer-based training (CBT) modules and storyboards. Develops instructor's manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools. Collaborates with subject experts to develop course content. Manages online learning communities; LMS Analyzes, updates, and refines existing online content. Trains instructors in how to use learning technologies. Facilitates discussion and collaboration via social media. Keeps current on best practices in instructional design. Assists with scripts for video and audio content. Works with technical staff to troubleshoot problems reported by users. Other duties as assigned Qualifications/Skills Set Required: Knowledge of adult learning theory Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) Understanding the visual design of learning best practices Excellent project management and organizational skills Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft PowerPoint Experience with e-learning software such as Articulate Storyline and Camtasia Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical clients The ability to think critically and ask detailed questions Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines Education, Certification, and License Requirements: BS, or technical degree in instructional design, education, or related field Previous experience in instructional design Minimum Years of Experience 2-4 License Required No Minimum Education High School Overview IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services to a variety of end markets, including electrical, mechanical and communications contracting solutions for the commercial, industrial, residential and renewable energy markets.
