Learn more about the benefits of working at UC Brief Summary of Job Duties: Under general direction from the Director, University Center & Events Center Administration, manages the financial accounting, fiscal operations, and financial analysis for the University Center (UCEN) and Events Center (ECEN) business operations. Providing sound fiscal practice in management of revenues and expenses, the incumbent posts revenue and expense accounts to the general ledger; provides categorical breakdown of revenue and expenses for all department budgets and cost centers. Prepares and processes TOE's, TOF's, and financial journals. Prepares monthly profit and loss statements by fund source. Provides the Director extensive research, analysis, advice and recommendations on a wide variety of financial issues. Using independent judgment, prepares and analyzes a wide variety of financial reports as well as monitors and analyzes expenditures and spending patterns. Works closely with the Director on special projects within the UCEN and ECEN. Required Qualifications:

Analyzes budget accounts for the UCEN/ECEN. Posts revenues to the appropriate revenue accounts in the general ledger. Categorizes income by account/fund and line item. Complies with campus policies and procedures for all revenue transactions. Resolves complex revenue transactions. Works with third party vendors to ensure revenues are tracked and reconciled as per Accounting standards. Produces summary monthly statements of revenue by category. Collaborates with department managers, area supervisors and staff to ensure accuracy of all revenue transactions. Provides a categorical breakdown of expenses such as staffing costs, supplies, equipment, facilities work orders, and third party service contracts. Produces monthly statements of expenses by category. Prepares and processes transfer of expenses and payroll for control point approval. Interacts with departmental managers, area supervisors and technology staff to obtain relevant fiscal information. Based on analysis, prepares financial journals to appropriately reflect both revenue and expenses. Analyzes third party service reports and verifies activity. Ensures availability of confirming documentation for all activity. Verifies transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger. Reports inconsistencies or audit issues to the Director. Profit & Loss Statements/Transfer of Funds - 30% Independently prepares monthly profit and loss statements by fund source. Analyzes varied component elements and complex financial information. In coordination with the Budget Office and Accounting, monitors the status of the Equipment Reserve Account. This forms the basis of long-term campus debt. Uses standard accounting procedures to predict revenue and expenses and produces associated fiscal reports. Monitors carry forward funds. Documents unallocated funds, subsidies, and reserves. Assists Department management in profiling the overall status of the Department. Researches, prepares, and processes permanent and temporary transfer via electronic transfer of funds system. Interacts regularly with the UCSB Campus Accounting Office to reflect fluctuating budgetary requirements. Training & Support -20% Advises Director and appropriate staff on use of revenue and the expense accounts in the general ledger. Trains staff on pertinent procedures and systems. Follows campus policies and procedures regarding audit standards; reports non-compliance issues to the Director. Provides financial input pertinent to third party contract negotiations. Offers fiscal information associated with contract language and document preparation.
