Central Garden & Pet Company (NASDAQ: CENT) is a leading innovator, marketer, and producer of quality branded products for the pet, lawn, and garden supplies markets. Our Dog and Cat business unit is searching for an E-Commerce Director to lead the growth and sales performance across all digital commerce channels for Nylabone, Four Paws, Cadet, Best Bully Sticks, Barkworthies, and Paw Love brands. This position will drive growth in existing and net new channels through detailed analysis, aggressive go-to-market strategies, ongoing account management, and effective consumption growth program development.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, E-Commerce & Digital Marketing, the E-Commerce Director will play a key role in helping the organization achieve our goals and objectives on a high-growth, high-visibility sales team. The ideal candidate is an E-Commerce expert with e-retail experience on both the brand side and the buying side. This person loves to think big, be one step ahead of trends and tools, is highly analytical, innovative, and entrepreneurial.

This position is based out of our Neptune City, NJ facility 5x a week.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
  • Lead the short- and long-term vision for Central Dog & Cat eCommerce
  • Own the P&Ls, business performance, and KPIs, flexing strategies to achieve sales growth
  • Develop and implement the digital commerce strategy to drive revenue growth across all digital channels
  • Ensure brands are represented with excellence on all digital shelves by optimizing product pages, utilizing merchandising tools, and implementing best-in-class digital content
  • Identify and unlock online merchandising opportunities to enhance visibility and conversion on each retail platform
  • Maintain robust competitive intelligence to monitor trends and digital best practices
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including digital marketing, copy, creative, brand marketing, inventory management, forecasting, sales, reputation management, leadership, and other teams to provide visibility, transparency, and efficiency with project work as new channels are launched
  • Partner with Marketing to leverage customer insights, optimizing digital commerce strategies based on data learnings
  • Own assortment management, determining which customers and channels are a fit, maximizing profit
  • Collaborate with digital and brand marketing teams to execute campaigns, driving traffic, conversion, and awareness
  • Forecast sales and partner with S&OP to manage inventory and ensure alignment with demand
  • Develop and manage investment strategies to maximize returns, oversee budgets, and allocate resources across channels based on performance metrics
  • Analyze performance data/trends to inform decisions, ensure efficient investments and maximize sales.
  • Implement a test-and-learn approach to drive continuous improvement in online experience and sales performance
  • Own promotional planning, launch, and post-event analysis of performance, spend, and ROI.
  • Report E-commerce financials, provide insights and learnings to the leadership team monthly.
  • Own iMAP and standard pricing for select channels, meet margin requirements, and maintain a fair consumer price.
  • Own weekly, monthly, quarterly sales, units, and market share reporting.
  • Maintain a best-in-class digital team; optimize processes and drive new ways of working with a digital-first approach.
  • Lead a team of agile and fast-paced digital talent who drive best-in-class experiences.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:
  • Minimum 8 years in e-Commerce, ideally supporting consumer goods
  • Proven track record of identifying new opportunities or process improvements to drive revenue
  • Experience owning a P&L across various commerce models
  • Ability to adapt effectively to change and thrive in ambiguity
  • Experience launching and supporting Amazon Vendor and Seller Central
  • Identify, develop, and implement E-Commerce strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives
  • Highly analytical; Expert in account level eCommerce management and reporting tools
  • Deep understanding of E-Commerce space, overall trends, and technology
  • Ability to independently learn new tools and technology to support the business
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and create strong relationships to achieve objectives
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and developing a high-performing team
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment in a highly visible role
  • Intellectual curiosity and thirst for innovation and success
  • Highly organized, accurate, proactive and positive
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years' experience in Shopify or similar tools a plus
  • Knowledge of pet category preferred
