ESTIMATING MANAGER

Position Overview:

The Estimating Manager leads the Estimating Department and is responsible for developing Department of Defense (DoD) compliant cost estimates. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Supply Chain Management and Pricing, this role establishes standards, procedures, tools, and methodologies to produce accurate cost estimates based on work scope, specifications, and contractual requirements. The position requires ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and compliance with Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) standards.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage the Estimating Department to achieve company objectives and ensure the development of accurate and compliant cost estimates.

* Establish and implement processes to analyze project requirements, plans, and specifications for preparing DFARS-compliant estimates.

* Evaluate and incorporate performance data into detailed cost estimates, including labor hours and material costs.

* Analyze, review, and approve all proposals and budget preparations leaving the department.

* Maintain excellent knowledge of the shipbuilding industry, including trends that impact business operations and profitability.

* Strategically manage stakeholder expectations throughout the proposal process.

* Perform detailed analyses to prepare cost estimates and calculate gross profit margins, ensuring alignment with company objectives.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Comprehensive knowledge of practices and procedures for developing, preparing, and forecasting cost estimates.

* Thorough understanding of DFARS 252.215-7002 Cost Estimating System Requirements.

* Strong leadership skills to manage the performance of direct reports and drive departmental success.

* Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills to develop and present accurate estimates.

Education, Experience & Training:

* Minimum of seven years' experience working with complex DoD-compliant estimates.

* Bachelor's degree in business management, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is required.
