Project Associate, Class Programs

Cornell University, a nationally ranked Ivy League institution, is looking for a project associate to join the Alumni Affairs & Development division in Ithaca, NY.

The project associate will be part of a vibrant team of alumni affairs professionals dedicated to the support and engagement of alumni volunteers, Cornellians of all ages, and students through class and affinity connections. The project associate will manage important logistics and operations of Reunion, Homecoming, and other large-scale Alumni Affairs projects with an emphasis on project coordination including fostering key partnerships with campus affiliates and vendors. The project associate will collaborate with colleagues throughout central Alumni Affairs and Development and across Cornell colleges and units.

This position requires strong organizational and coordination skills to streamline project timelines, ensure financial accountability, and maintain clear communication among stakeholders to meet goals effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and execute operational components of infrastructure projects for Reunion, Homecoming, and campus initiatives
• Coordinate facilities reservations and serve as the campus space expert for Class, Student, and Young Alumni Programs (CSYAP) and divisional colleagues
• Interface with campus facilities teams to oversee event infrastructure
• Liaise with subcontractor and oversee outsourced vendor contracts
• Support annual budget preparation, review contracts, analyze project needs and communicate expense projections, process invoices, and streamline expenditures
• Develop and monitor comprehensive project timelines, resources, and documentation

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2 to 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination
• Ability to cultivate inclusive and equitable working relationships with staff, university planning partners, vendors, and other project stakeholders
• Capably review and assess vendor contracts
• Ability to gather data and communicate project needs involving roles, resources, timelines, and cost
• Skillfully manage operational aspects of simultaneously occurring projects
• Must possess excellent communication, cost tracking, and deadline management skills
• Ability to lead within a team
• Capable of independent problem solving
