Embroidery Machine Operator

The Embroidery Machine Operator is responsible for operating multiple head machines, creating a variety of logos and decorative designs on customized headwear products. This job takes place in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

* Tends semiautomatic sewing machine with multiple-sewing heads to embroider names, letters, or decorative designs/logos on fronts, backs, middles, peaks, and other panels.

* Reads work order to determine type and location of embroidery, as well as thread colors and color sequence needed.

* Counts parts, checks for cloth defects, checks for proper taping and cover stitches, and separates parts by sizes.

* Places spools of thread on the required spindle of each sewing head and draws thread through the machine, guides, tensions, and eye of the needle while adjusting thread tension by turning appropriate knobs to the left or right on the front of each sewing head.

* Performing regular thread and needle changes, as necessary.

* Determines start/finish point and foam requirements using the tape instruction sheet and tape sample.

* Retrieves applicable embroidery file noted on work order and loads it into embroidery machine.

* Keeps all sensitive matters confidential.

* Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Sewing skills preferred.

* Enthusiastic positive person who embraces work with a sense of urgency and persistence

* Functions as a team player to achieve team goals, objectives, and deadlines.

* Able to perform well under pressure and adapt to change easily.

* Ability to consistently reach minimum production requirements.

* Proven attention to detail and accuracy

* Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

* Ability to perform basic Mathematical skills and ability to read and understand measurements.

* Ability to walk and stand for an 8-hour shift.

* Ability to repetitively lift, carry, and position objects weighing up to 30 lbs.

* Able to work overtime, including Saturdays if needed.

* Able to wear all necessary personal protective equipment to perform job functions (appropriate footwear).

Education and Experience

* Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
