Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue (NMFR), an ISO Class 1 department serving the Cities of Neenah and Menasha, Wisconsin, with a combined population of approximately 45,500 people is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to fill the role of Assistant Fire Chief - Training. Established on January 1, 2003, through the consolidation of the Neenah and Menasha Fire Departments, NMFR is committed to preserving lives and property within our communities. Our team of 68 career employees operates from four strategically located fire stations, providing efficient responses to emergencies, including fire suppression, EMS, auto extrication, and ice/water rescue. Your Role:

The Assistant Fire Chief - Training is a management level position responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive training programs in the elements of structural firefighting operations, emergency medical response, special operations including emergency management and EOC operations and the Incident Command System that ensure our personnel meet the highest standards of performance and safety. This role is crucial in maintaining our ISO Class 1 rating, reflecting our commitment to excellence in fire protection and service. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Take a lead role in technical rescue training and operations, including high angle, confined space, trench, water/ice, SCUBA and others
  • Be involved in the research and development of fire/rescue training programs, conducting in-house training, and the coordination of training programs and activities with area departments and the Technical College.
  • Assist in the development of the departments standard operating procedures and be responsible for all training records for the department
  • Assist the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, and Municipal Emergency Directors for Neenah and Menasha in reviewing, updating, and training following the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) ensuring effective emergency management functions for both cities.

We need you to have:
  • Associates' Degree in Fire Science or relevant field, bachelor degree preferred.
  • Five years progressively responsible fire service supervisory experience (move-up Fire Officer or higher) required.
  • Wisconsin Firefighter I, Wisconsin Firefighter II, Driver/Operator-Pumper, Driver/Operator - Aerial and Wisconsin Fire Officer I certifications.
  • Wisconsin Fire Instructor I and II.
  • Wisconsin Fire Officer ll and Wisconsin Fire Instructor III required within 18 months of hire.
  • Emergency Medical Responder.
  • Employees with equivalent out of state certifications must receive the Wisconsin certifications within 12 months of hire.
  • NIMS 100, 200, 300, 400, and 700 certification must be completed within 9 months of hire.
  • A valid driver's license.

Pay/Benefits
Salary range is $69,673.50- $83,304.00 with competitive benefits.
