Summary:

Assist in managing the overall daily operation of Owner Operators to ensure regulatory compliance while cost-effectively managing the routing of incoming and outgoing shipments to achieve high customer satisfaction and Company operating targets. Assist in overseeing the operations and administration of customer service, availability, driver settlement and support. Identify areas in the position responsibilities to streamline and create efficiencies. Assist in overseeing the operations and administration of customer service, availability, driver settlement and support. Essential Duties:

  • Ensure all customer's contractual & 'Level of Service' obligations are met and/or exceeded.

  • Maintain technical and professional proficiency in operational and customer service requirements.

  • Manage inland transport of containers by:

  • Provide daily direction and guidance for coordinators and dispatchers

  • Analyze routing options to ensure the most cost-effective route based on bill of lading requirements, budget, service delivery, and driver/equipment availability.

  • Prioritize the dispatch of containers to ensure on time delivery and customer satisfaction.

  • Authorize equipment drops, monitor idle equipment, and consolidate shipments as needed.

  • Ensure that shipping and billing data is tracked appropriately and promptly

  • Coordinate and problem solve challenges with drivers, partner carriers, SSL, rail operators and port operators.

  • Manage owner operator fleet, including communicating company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance, monitor performance against standards, and recommend corrective action to management.

  • Work closely with Transportation Safety Business Partners to maintain compliance with Federal, State, and local Safety regulations and policies.

  • Negotiating rates with drivers and setting schedules.

  • Ensure compliance with Company guidelines, State/Federal laws and regulatory governing entities (i.e., Hours of Service, ELDs).

  • Support the recruiting of owner operators to meet business level requirements.

  • Counsel and terminate contracts of owner operators not compliant with the contract, company SOPs or customer's requirements.

  • Meet the company's financial targets for productivity and profitability

  • Perform other job-related duties as required by management.

Requirements:

  • College degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • 3 - 5 years of transportation, dispatch or customer service experience preferred

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Understands and has a good working knowledge of State and Federal Regulations as relates to movement of Interstate and Intrastate Commerce.

  • Demonstrated excellence in problem-solving and application of judgment to changing situations in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills must be able to interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Computer proficient; Microsoft Office Programs.

Pay Range:

  • $60- 70k*

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
