Overview

As a Sr. Manager of Business Process Improvement reporting to the Sr. Director of Mission Assurance for the Mission Systems Division business unit (BU), you'll have responsibility for the development and implementation of multi-site lean manufacturing with the intent to establish linkage and flow, meet customer demand at lowest cost with perfect quality. The sites this role will oversee are Lansdale, PA; Lancaster, PA; Eatontown, NJ; Whippany NJ; and Woburn, MA. You'll work to establish programs, practices metrics and standards utilizing lean methodologies, analyze and recommend future state value stream design and also identify opportunities to improve existing practices and procedures toward true north vision. You'll lead and mentor leaders and multi-functional teams to implement the lean manufacturing. Facilitates strategy deployment activities in support of strategic goal development and flow down. Work with Sr. leaders and front-line team members to develop breakthrough objectives, cascade goals and develop measurable projects towards site transformation.


Responsibilities

  • Assures business process improvement has balanced focus on employees, customers and stakeholders
  • Works with Sr. leaders to assure linkage of business process improvements to P&L, cash flow and balance sheet
  • Leads and mentors' others in development of lean manufacturing as a means for profitable growth, via the use of
  • Assure alignment across the BU using strategy deployment and functional standard work
  • Develop others to implement standard work including takt, standard work comb sheets, line balancing, SWIP (Standard Work in Process)
  • Deploy and sustain leader standard work, visual controls, daily tiered accountability, Gemba walks to assure teams adhere to standard work
  • Coach employees to see abnormal conditions and problem solve systematically
  • Direct the efforts of, or personally lead, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities, Kaizen events and/or A3 projects through a disciplined process resulting in improvement to performance metrics
    • Mastery is expected but not limited to JIT, takt, flow, pull, standard work sheet, jidoka, DMAIC, A3, strategy deployment, TPM, continuous flow, mistake proofing, eliminating waste, 5 why's, heijunka, kanban, kaizen, pacemaker, pitch, replenishment system, SWIP, supermarket, standardized work, standard work combo sheet, value stream mapping, visual management, time observations
  • Managing financial assets: develop budgets, establish controls to ensure budget compliance, support new product bid and proposal efforts for the sites

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or a technical field
  • A background in Engineering and/or Industrial Manufacturing is required.
  • 6+ years of experience with LEAN, Six Sigma and expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies as described under the responsibilities
  • 6+ years of people leadership experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing continuous improvement teams in an operational environment, to include leading business transformation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)

Preferred Qualifications and Success Factors

  • Masters degree in business or a technical field
  • Lean master, lean practitioner, or Master Black Belt Certification
  • Auto or electronics industry manufacturing experience
  • Toyota Production System (TPS) familiarity
  • Mastery level knowledge of both current and emerging lean tools and principles allows for key advisor status.
  • Front line experience and understand lean philosophy from the worker perspective
  • Ability to coach and mentor with a narrow and deep focus
  • Ability to align vision and plans to see the whole and adapt as needed
  • Effectively develop future leaders while showing deep respect
  • Develop teams to work together in structured problem solving
  • Remain positive and develop yourself when challenges occur
  • Models a culture to sustain and improve performance
  • Hands on Leader and strong leadership skills
  • Computer skills: high-level of spreadsheet utilization skills; exposure to a networked environment using a Windows and/or Windows like interface using Microsoft office suite such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Outlook; ability to utilize and create reports using Power BI; ability to use Enterprise-wide information systems such as Oracle and/or IFS
  • Active DoD Secret Level Clearance

  • Up to 30% Travel
