Job Purpose

To provide technical expertise and support from an engineering perspective to ensure safe and effective operation, maintenance and enhancement of National Grid's gas distribution network in accordance with the corporate strategic plan.

Key Accountabilities
  • Perform standard engineering analysis and provide recommendations associated with gas main replacements, system operating procedures, equipment and facility integrity assessments, and system analysis.
  • Perform standard engineering analysis/calculations and provide recommendations to Pressure Regulation Engineering for the replacement LP pressure regulator station assets.
  • Independently collate and analyze data within business entity using standard analytical tools, methods and formats in order to support the department's decision-making process.
  • Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processes.
  • Conduct specific projects within area of capability and perform engineering studies, analysis and investigations, under supervision, in order to recommend corrective action in problem areas, or to prevent problems.
  • Collaborate with Gas Field Operations to support their leak repair process and identify and recommend pipe segments for replacement through the proactive main replacement program.
  • Collaborate with Corrosion Engineering to identify pipe segments that need to be reclassified as leak prone pipe.
  • Perform geo-data analytics by using data from multiple systems/sources, including the corporate mapping system, ArcGIS Pro.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
  • Able to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to improve asset performance and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering discipline required.
  • 0 - 2 years of engineering experience required.
  • Engineering certifications a plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant utility industry practices, standards and legislation preferred.
  • Proven experience prioritizing work and managing multiple engineering projects simultaneously within budget and time constraintspreferred.
  • Previous experience working in a Project Management team environment preferred.
  • Proven experience making professional presentations a plus.
  • Commitment to safety as a core value.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Salary: $97,000 - $114,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
