Position Description:

Position Description:

Every day, in ways both big and small, the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is impacting lives for the better. MCW ... changemaking for a healthier Wisconsin. In the role of Postoctoral Fellow you will be working in Biophysics.

Who We Are

The Marinelli Lab at MCW's Biophysics Department explores how cells function at a molecular level, focusing on membrane transport, signaling, and morphological changes. This research relies on state-of-the-art and novel computer simulation methods, rooted in statistical mechanics and machine-learning. Methodological developments constitute an integral part of the lab research agenda and encompass advanced computational approaches to integrate molecular modeling and wet-lab experiments. A hallmark of the lab work, both in understanding mechanisms and developing methods, is its synergistic collaboration with wet-lab researchers. The lab uses this interdisciplinary approach to advance our understanding of proteins and cellular membranes across molecular and supramolecular scales, aiding the discovery of new therapies against diseases.

For more information, see www.mcw.edu/Biophysics.

Purpose

The laboratory seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher in the area computational biophysics. The research focus is to study mechanisms and organization of membrane proteins and their interplay with the lipid bilayer dynamics and morphology, particularly within the context of infectious diseases, drug resistance and cancer. This work will primarily rely on molecular simulation methods, encompassing both state-of-the-art techniques and advanced machine-learning approaches.

The role includes contributing to the execution and design of research projects in this area, collaborate with experimental partners, analyze data, present findings at scientific meetings, and prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.

The lab is committed to providing a rich learning experience while supporting professional growth and transition to career independence.

The position offers a competitive compensation salary aligned with National Institutes of Health (NIH) standards, along with healthcare and other benefits.

Resources

Lab members have access to both dedicated and shared high-performance computing resources, including advanced GPU servers reserved for the lab, through the MCW Research Computing Center.
