Overview

This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following location(s): NC, NJ, AZ, FL

The Business Analyst - Database Platform Technology and Support Services plays a critical role in supporting the implementation and management of advanced database protection, analysis, and data related technology solutions. The role focuses on enabling data masking, encryption in transit, file-level encryption for restricted and confidential structured data systems and applications, testing of technology systems, querying databases, managing database assets, project tracking, invoice processing, tracking of security exceptions and identified risks, and general administrative functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and technical skills, coupled with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with enterprise data protection standards.


Responsibilities

  1. Requirements Gathering & Analysis
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for data masking, encryption in transit, and encryption at rest solutions.
  • Develop use cases, process flows, and system specifications for structured data systems classified as restricted or confidential.
  • Analyze existing systems and processes to identify gaps and recommend solutions aligned with data protection policies.
  1. Technical Analysis & Solutions Design
  • Collaborate with technical teams to assess encryption protocols (e.g., TLS 1.2/1.3) and file-level encryption methodologies.
  • Evaluate and recommend data masking strategies for non-production environments, ensuring sensitive data is appropriately obfuscated.
  • Work closely with system architects to design integrations and implementations that enhance data security.
  1. Policy Alignment & Compliance
  • Ensure solutions meet organizational and regulatory requirements for data protection, including compliance with internal classifications of restricted and confidential data.
  • Partner with data governance, privacy, and compliance teams to align processes with enterprise standards and policies.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable frameworks, such as GDPR, CCPA, and industry best practices for data security.
  1. Documentation & Reporting
  • Create detailed documentation, including technical specifications, functional requirements, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for database protection services.
  • Develop dashboards and reports to monitor data protection activities, including compliance with encryption and masking standards.
  • Maintain project documentation to track progress and ensure alignment with objectives.
  1. Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Support testing efforts, including data masking validation and encryption functionality testing.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet both business and technical requirements.
  • Identify and resolve defects or gaps in implemented solutions.
  1. Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Act as a liaison between business units, IT, and data protection teams to ensure shared understanding of objectives and requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather feedback, present findings, and gain approval for proposed solutions.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and consultants on the implementation of tools and technologies supporting database protection services.
  1. Project Support
  • Contribute to the development of project plans, timelines, and resource allocation for initiatives involving database protection.
  • Provide ongoing support for projects, including troubleshooting and process optimization.
  • Assist with post-implementation reviews to identify areas for improvement and future enhancements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Systems Support, or Analytics, or Operational Support OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Systems Support, or Analytics, or Operational Support

Preferred:

3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role in data protection, database management, IT security, or comparable work experience.

  • Experience with tools required to support the business analyst role, i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, testing and analytical tools, reporting systems, etc.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data classification schemes and their application to restricted and confidential data.
  • Proficiency with tools like SQL, data visualization platforms (e.g., Power BI), and workflow management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, GDPR, or CCPA related to data security and privacy.
  • Knowledge of database systems, including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or DB2.
  • Certifications such as CBAP, CIPT, or security-related credentials (e.g., CISSP) are a plus, but not required
