The University Foundation is seeking (1) Accountant II, Accounts Payable to join the already incredible team taking the GSU Foundation to the next level of excellence!

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The ideal candidate will have complex accounting skills and non-profit experience. In addition to supporting the department, the Accountant II, Accounts Payable will also support University Advancement through the following duties:



  • Review and approve submitted payment requests daily. Enter any paper payment requests into the General Ledger Accounts Payable system when appropriate and needed. Assists with reconciling Accounts Payable General Ledger accounts and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Assists with monitoring budgets and available cash for all payment requests weekly and preparing cash needs analyses for check and EFT runs.
  • Provides customer service for campus partners and vendors. Responds to accounts payable inquiries.
  • Assists AP Manager with federal and state laws and regulations, as well as USG, GSU, and Foundation policies and procedures compliance and enforcement.
  • Assists with training new Accounts Payable staff and campus partners that assist with Foundation Accounts Payable processes and requests.
  • Responsible for creating new vendor records for vetted and approved vendors.
  • Assists AP Manager and Comptroller with annual audit and tax/information return requests relevant to Accounts Payable and assistance with state sales and use tax returns and federal Form 1099s preparation.
  • Performs other related duties or projects as assigned/requested.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience; or high school diploma or GED and six years of bookkeeping or accounting experience; or a combination of education and related experience. Must be bondable for some positions.


Preferred Hiring Qualifications:



  • Knowledge of IRS Business Expenses and Accountable Plan regulations.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge or other Nonprofit accounting software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
