Job location: Hybrid (Princeton, NJ / Home Office) The individual will lead packaging development projects from initiation through manufacture (launch). Projects will consist of modifications of packaging for existing products as well as the packaging for new products. The individual will be responsible for meeting timelines, finding solutions to problems, managing expectations, and delivering to those expectations. The individual will have accountability to their packaging projects to assure they meet quality and consumer expectations while maintaining project schedule. In addition to working within cross-functional teams, the individual will also work closely with quality, finance, procurement, regulatory, engineering, operations, consultants and outside vendors.
Responsibilities:
Packaging development that incorporates innovative technology, Innovation Design Thinking (IDT), sustainability and recyclability. Execute projects with complete scope from primary through tertiary packaging development Generation and execution of line trials, test plans and reports Create and maintain project time lines Lead the qualification strategy for new package designs and materials Influence and ideate cost savings initiatives as related to package designs and materials Travel to vendor and manufacturing locations for support of packaging project activities Hands-on evaluation of packaging for conformance to project requirements. Develops packaging specifications. Works with other corporate departments, plants, contract manufacturing, consultants, and suppliers.
Education & Experience:
Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in package development, device or hard goods manufacturing. A preference will be towards candidates that have experience in "consumer goods" packaging areas. Bachelors degree required, focus in Package Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering sciences.
The candidate must clearly demonstrate experience in the following areas:
Primary through tertiary packaging development for new product launches Coordination and completion of qualification for new package designs and materials Development of component specifications Understanding of LSS, SPC and DOE (design of experiments) and development of component specifications Packaging development with various materials: Fiberboard, corrugated, injection molded bottles and caps, pouches, CRC closures, sachets, blisters Knowledge or experience with the following a plus: CRC tools, Data analysis tools, Rapid prototyping, Lean Six Sigma tools
Additional Skills Needed:
Clear ability to organize and prioritize a number of Packaging projects High interpersonal skills clearly showing strong communication interdepartmentally and in cross-corporate environments Strong communication and presentation skills across the organization at multiple levels A self-motivated and proactive personality with ambitions to "learn and deliver" within a fast paced, "employee empowered" atmosphere High competency in Microsoft applications and general computer usage.
