Starting Salary Range: full-time - $25.48-28.61 + Office Benefit Package (On-call expenses): $130/Month subject to change

RADIAS Health is looking for a Medical Billing Specialist to provide professional, quality customer service when interacting with medical insurance companies and staff employed at the organization. This position will support the reimbursement process by assisting in the resolution of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) chart/billing error corrections, billing, and invoice preparation, and reviewing client eligibility. Bills insurance companies and patients for all services provided at the organization. Pursues collection of all claims till payment is made by medical insurance companies. Performs other work associated with the billing process.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in auditing, error correction, and preparation of behavioral health billing in RADIAS Health's current electronic health record software (Credible)
  • Review, address and solve billing task tickets in a timely manner. Prepare and process clean claims to various insurance companies for various patient insurances, including specific restrictions or groups.
  • Address and execute any payback to county systems as instructed.
  • Understand and assist in client insurance eligibility checks and changes for clients/programs at least monthly.
  • Maintain competencies in software and websites for the agency's current electronic health record, DHS/MNITS, and insurance providers.
  • Prepare, review, and send patient billing statements. Track and maintain clean records of room and board for assigned programs, including patient portions and housing grants.
  • Processes and reconciles payments from various insurance companies.
  • Process transactions on the merchant banking account and train others as appropriate.
  • Considers patient's financial status and establishes budget payment plans. Follows and reports status of delinquent accounts.
  • Report and maintain accurate documentation of company revenue for assigned programs.
  • Review and follow-up on denied claims, resubmitting claims to third party payers and advocate for payment.
  • Performs various collection actions including contacting patients by phone and mailing out invoices.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
  • Maintains updated billing and benefit changes for all patients and third-party insurance carriers.
  • Prepare and request paperwork for prior authorizations for services provided.
  • Prepare grant invoices and fund collections with various parties (EGMS, HUD and counties)
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or 3-5 years equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years administrative/secretarial experience.
  • Previous experience in insurance billing and data processing
  • Knowledge of billing requirements.
  • Experience is billing third party insurance for facility and professional claims electronically.
