The Optometrist works independently as a member of the UCSD Eyemobile Community Ophthalmology Division and performs examinations and procedures, uses medical devices and technology, treats conditions, and prescribes the use of pharmaceutical agents as allowed by the California State Board of Optometry. Provides primary eye care including diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the visual system, and associated structures as well as identifying related systemic conditions affecting the eye.The optometrist will be working in a mobile eye unit. In addition, may perform contact lens fittings on eyes to correct for corneal defects and eye conditions caused by ocular disease, injury, or surgery while maximizing visual function, comfort, and eye . Uses skills as an experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and campus policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of issues.
