The Position
2025 Summer Intern - gRED, Regev Lab
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on site. The Opportunity Cellular deconvolution is a useful technique to infer the unknown composition of bulk RNAseq samples, but has traditionally been limited to estimating abundances of discrete cell types. Recent approaches based on maximum entropy models and generative models show promise inferring continuous processes such as differentiation. The Regev lab aims to develop a deep generative model that builds on these approaches and is trained on massive, comprehensive, and heterogeneous reference atlases containing 10s of millions of single cells from hundreds of studies. Such a model would enable the development of a tool to routinely profile the large volumes of bulk RNAseq data collected in-house. We will assess the accuracy of the method in epithelial, cancer, and other tissue samples containing diverse and continuous cell states. Program Highlights
