College of Medicine- Harriet F. Ginsburg Health Sciences Library:

The Harriet F. Ginsburg Health Sciences Library at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine is a 98% digital library located in Lake Nona, Florida. We are in Medical City, approximately 20 miles from the UCF main campus. Our library's mission is to provide College of Medicine students, staff, faculty, and community with evidence-based information resources using the latest innovative technology, and to foster a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all library users by providing excellent customer service. We are seeking a motivated, organized, and friendly life-long learner who will connect with our users and drive engagement with our library services and programs.

The Opportunity:

The Library Technical Assistant III position is crucial to providing excellent service to the students, staff, and faculty users of the Health Sciences Library. This position identifies and implements outreach strategies to promote the Health Sciences Library's programs and resources; creates outreach initiatives and library programs; and includes student-facing support in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the library.

Responsibilities:


  • Identifies and implements outreach strategies to promote the health sciences library's brand.

  • Creates and implements marketing campaigns and materials for library events and services.

  • Creates and edits copy for email and print campaigns.

  • Creates and maintains the library's marketing and editorial calendar to organize content dissemination across all HSL print and digital marketing platforms.

  • Manages and monitors all health sciences library social media accounts, including gathering and reporting monthly statistics on followers and engagement.

  • Creates original content and curates existing content for use on social media and digital marketing platforms.

  • Executes the library events including: planning, organization, set-up, management, and take-down of events designed to promote the awareness and use of library resources and services.

  • Assesses library outreach and programming to support continuous improvement.

  • Develops and presents educational programming for College of Medicine faculty, staff, and students.

  • Conducts new employee orientations on library resources for new College of Medicine staff.

  • Provides reference assistance and fulfills interlibrary loan requests.

  • Manages the front desk during a regularly assigned shift.

  • Provides basic reference services to library patrons including answering questions on the use of library resources, equipment, and apps from library users in person, via email or phone.

  • Discharges books and materials using the Alma circulation system and reshelves material.

  • Maintains the library space. Instructs users on library technology and apps in a variety of settings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to include but not limited to timely completion of all university and college training.


Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree with relevant experience.

  • Pursuing master's degree in library and information science/studies.

  • Experience working in a library, preferably an academic or health sciences library.

  • Experience using marketing tools including Canvas, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, and Google calendar.

  • Experience creating campaigns and content on social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter/X.

  • Strong customer service background and skills.

  • Ability to manage projects and work assignments independently.
