A&F Finance Business Center:

The Administration and Finance (A&F) division's Finance Business Center supports the following units: Office of the CFO, Financial Affairs, Human Resources, and Public Safety & UCF Police. Our team serves as trusted advisors to the CFO and the division's leadership team.

Reporting to the A&F division's Assistant Vice President for Budget Operations and Strategic Initiatives, this position directs and oversees accounting and budget management for the A&F division's $45M+ operating budget including the CFO's Office, Financial Affairs, Human Resources, Public Safety, and division-led university special projects (i.e., ERP Finance and HR implementation). It also provides guidance and leadership to the division's Finance Business Center (FBC) and assists the A&F CFO and Senior Vice President and the senior leadership team in planning, development, and decision-making to execute the division's financial strategies and goals. Position requires significant experience analyzing budget data and preparing reports for diverse audiences and levels of financial acumen.

Responsibilities:


  • Formulates, implements, and administers the annual operating budget for the division's units and performs long-term, multi-year budget planning and forecasting. Monitors and analyzes performance against budgets on a monthly basis and provides financial guidance to unit leadership and personnel as it relates to the planning, preparation, and execution of their budgets.

  • Responsible for implementing, managing, and ensuring the fiscal integrity of all division expense and revenue transactions. This includes overseeing and/or approving funding requests/transfers, requisitions, journal entries, payment of invoices, cost center creation and/or close out, etc. The frequency and volume of transactions within the division is high, particularly in the Public Safety area.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains accounting and budgeting guidelines and standard operating procedures to ensure the division's FBC staff is properly trained and is serving its units effectively and efficiently. This includes establishing and maintaining internal controls to ensure division funds are managed and utilized in accordance with applicable laws and university and/or State of Florida contracts, guidelines, policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains budget tools and reports utilizing Adaptive Planning, Excel, Power BI, Workday, etc. to support planning, forecasting, monitoring, and decision support. This may include budget data for presentation to university budget committees, division senor management, Board of Trustees (BOT), and BOT Budget and Finance Committee.

  • Leads process improvement efforts to automate/streamline division financial business processes, create efficiencies, and remove obstacles and/or duplication of effort. As a leading FBC in the continuing evolution of UCF's SET model, this may encompass working with the Finance Center of Expertise and Knights Experience Team (kNEXT) to provide feedback on central business processes, reports, and systems and assist with developing standard reports and other templates to be used across the university.

  • Attends Office of Budget Planning and Analysis (BPA) Budget Director meetings, Financial Affairs Financial Focus Group (FFG) meetings, and other finance-related regular and ad hoc meetings to stay abreast of evolving and new processes and guidelines/policies/procedures/regulations. May also serve on search and other university committees, as needed.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 10+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related field including 5+ years leading, developing, and training teams.

  • Hands-on experience creating financial reports for different audiences and levels of acumen to support effective decision making and planning.

  • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, charts, and macros.

  • General experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software (e.g. Oracle Cloud, PeopleSoft, SAP, Workday), and budget planning and reporting software (e.g. Anaplan, Axiom, Workday Adaptive planning).

  • Demonstrated ability developing recommendations from data, creating reports and visualizations that drive strategic decision-making and business outcomes.

  • Strong understanding of analytics techniques to provide comprehensive data insights for long-term budget planning and forecasting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of successful stakeholder engagement.

  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Economics, Finance, etc.) is desirable.
