What Do We Do?

Business Unit: Lean Department - Dynamet Florida

The Lean Department at Dynamet focuses on streamlining operations, enhancing efficiency, and driving a culture of continuous improvement. Our purpose is to eliminate waste, optimize workflows, and implement Lean principles to support our company's operational and strategic goals. We strive to create standardized, efficient processes that ensure consistent quality, safety, and productivity.

Ongoing Projects

Currently, our department is focused on initiatives like enhancing 5S practices, developing standardized work playbooks, and optimizing production cells to reduce labor needs while improving output. Day-to-day activities involve analyzing processes, facilitating Kaizen events, training team members on Lean tools, and collaborating across departments to identify and implement improvement opportunities. These efforts ensure Dynamet continues to meet evolving customer demands while maximizing operational efficiency.

Your Role as an Intern

You will be a part of a dynamic team, supporting the following tasks:

What Do We Require?

You must be:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Candidates must have experience with AutoCAD, Solid Works, Microsoft Office Tools
  • Ideal candidates will possess the following characteristics: team-player, creative problem solver
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Willing and able to work on-site at our Clearwater, FL location.
  • Applicants MUST be US Citizens or Green Card Holders due to Carpenter's government contracts.

Pay Range

Hourly rates are based on: 1 - Program of study; 2 - Degree type (i.e., Bachelor's); 3 - Progression in degree (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, etc.). The range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00 per hour.

Commuting/Housing Assistance (If Eligible)

Interns who must commute to work from outside the immediate Clearwater, FL area (over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $2,400 (less applicable taxes) as excessive commute allowance. Interns who choose to temporarily relocate from outside the immediate Clearwater, FL area (moving over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $4,800 (less applicable taxes) as a housing allowance. If applicable, this payment would be made during the first payroll cycle, which would be three or four weeks following the internship start date.
