Join us as a Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

This position works under general direction and is responsible for managing the production process and employees on assigned shift to maximize production results and meet customer demand. This is a hands-on position that is heavily engaged in day-to-day production activities.

In this role you'll make an impact by:



  • Providing leadership necessary to achieve production goals by:

    • Driving safety culture.
    • Scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, communicating job expectations, and planning, monitoring, and evaluating job performance. Providing coaching follow-up for performance regarding development, safety, quality, and productivity.
    • Mentoring employees and directing work assignments through effective communication and cultivating a positive work environment.
    • Initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures, as well as promoting and implementing company and/or department initiatives and/or directives provided.
    • Creating the basis for continuous improvement and employee empowerment by ensuring that standardized processes are followed, tools for root cause analysis are utilized, countermeasures implemented, and the area is compliant with safety requirements.
    • Supporting management team members and peers as needed.
    • Ensuring effective employee relations. Resolving employee issues through problem resolution. Promoting, rewarding, and maintaining communication, teamwork, flexibility, cooperation, and customer focus within and between departments. Creating a culture of engagement by driving the company culture through actions and engaging employees daily.
    • Conducting shift/department meetings regarding communications, department and plant concerns, and policy interpretation.
    • Maintaining staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, and developing personal growth opportunities for employees.


  • Delivering departmental objectives through performance management of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and people by:

    • Fostering an environment conducive to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing by utilizing 5S and other tools.
    • Taking responsibility for area performance management boards (daily and weekly) and driving team's Kaizen suggestions for continuous improvement.
    • Conducting root cause analyses and determining corrective actions.
    • Recommending and implementing measures to improve processes, equipment performance, safety standards, and quality.
    • Assessing equipment, building, and grounds conditions and initiating work requests for repairs.
    • Coordinating and scheduling Preventative Maintenance work orders for Operators and Maintenance and assisting in the assessment of preventative maintenance equipment plans.
    • Participating in production decisions concerning new product lines or processes.
    • Actively participating in Training Within Industry (TWI) for the department and ensuring team availability for completion of job breakdowns, trainings, and process confirmation as necessary and required.
    • Engaging in Leader Standard Work as part of daily and weekly processes.


  • Participating in cross-functional projects and leading projects as assigned by management.
  • Training, supporting, and enforcing GMP, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines and requirements.
  • Providing day-to-day production support by:

    • Monitoring supply inventory levels and recommending orders as needed.
    • Overseeing all required paperwork, reports, and documentation.
    • Following up on customer complaints/CAPA deviations.
    • Acting as an expert on the production processes and maintaining the ability to be first-line troubleshooter. Ensuring proper upkeep of equipment, addressing and resolving problems, and initiating work orders for repairs.
    • Participating and following up on audit findings.


  • Continually reviewing, recommending, and implementing programs to comply with all State, Federal, and local safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Adhering to guidelines as set forth by religious dietary law certifications (Kosher and Halal).



To succeed you must hold:



  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to make administrative, procedural, and employment-related decisions in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to effectively and succinctly communicate in oral and written form to all levels (Operator to Executive) of the organization, as well as outside contractors.
  • Possess working knowledge of continuous improvement principles and their application.
  • Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Technical experience working on or operating machinery is preferred.
  • May require domestic and/or international travel up to 10%.
  • These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree in a business or science discipline, and one to three years of supervisory experience.
