Job Description

Assist in performing professional accounting work to provide management and staff with necessary financial information for operation of a division or broad departmental program. Examples of duties include preparing financial reports, preparing budget reports, processing purchase orders for payments, processing timecards for payroll processing, gathering data for special reports, and proof reading of reports.
Work is performed with supervision by the project lead or function lead. Accounting Intern is expected to voice his/her opinion or make recommendations in order to fully understand the process. Work will be reviewed by the project lead or function lead for accuracy, statutory conformance, and compliance with performance standards.
All of the following are to be performed while adhering to the assigned entity's operational policies, safety rules, and procedures.
Assist the lead in maintaining complex fund accounting, preparing special reports on projects requiring extensive research, interpretation, and analysis of statistical data.
Read, interpret, and apply state and local laws, rules, regulations and guidelines governing accounting procedures (including BARS and GAAP).
