Youth Sports Coaches are responsible for the instruction and supervision of participants in the program. The coaches will engage young athletes through demonstration and teach basic skills. Coaches will also teach teamwork and understanding of rules.

Reports to: Sports Coordinator
Location: Baseball, Softball, and T-Ball Practice: Various Parks, Games at W.R.O.
Youth Soccer: Practice Mindiola and various parks, Games at Mindiola
Rate: Range $12.00 - $18.00 hour

Dates and Times:
Youth Baseball, Softball, and T-Ball: Practice and games are held during the week, commitment is two days per
week.
Season: Mid May - July
Youth Soccer: Practice during the week (1 day) and games on Saturday, commitment is two days per week.
Spring Season: Mid-March - May, Fall Season: Mid-August - October

1. Responsible for field set-up and clean-up.
2. Responsible for instructing youth baseball, softball, t-ball, and soccer games and practice.
3. Follow set lesson plan and develop participant skill.
4. Ensures a safe playing environment for participants.
5. Observes, enforces, and explains all facility rules and regulations.
6. Answer parent's questions/concerns before and after the practice/games.
7. Report problems or needs to management.
8. Report to work at least 15 minutes prior to practice/games and stay until all participants have left.
9. Attend all in-service training programs and be aware of all facility procedures.
10. Communicate equipment and/or supply needs with management.
11. All other duties as may be assigned.



1. Possess an interest in working with/instructing youth.
2. Must have ability to organize and teach the fundamentals of baseball, softball, t-ball, and soccer skills. Skills based on season
3. Ability to keep simple records and reports, and work from oral and written directions.
4. Possess a broad knowledge of sports.
5. Previous instructing, coaching and/or competitive playing preferred.
6. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
7. Ability to communicate effectively, courteously, and tactfully with participants, parents, staff, city officials and the public.
8. Ability to present a positive image of the department and the City of Waukesha.
9. 18 years of age or older
10. Able to meet the scheduling needs for this position
11. Access to reliable transportation
