Job Summary GateWay Community College is now hiring a full-time residential Biology faculty member to start in Fall 2025. This position will teach a minimum of 30 load -hours of Biology during the academic year, instructing students from diverse backgrounds in freshman and sophomore Anatomy and Physiology courses (BIO160, 201, and 202) in both in-person and online modalities. This faculty member will use multiple methods of instruction, assessment results, and appropriate technologies to engage students in learning, enhance teaching, and promote student success. Additionally, they will organize and prepare lecture and laboratory materials, participate in departmental and college-wide activities, and participate in professional development. Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications 1. A Master's degree or higher in a biology discipline. (e.g. cell biology, molecular biology, physiology, anatomy, microbiology, marine biology, zoology, botany, ecology, developmental biology, evolutionary biology, neurobiology). OR 2. A Master's degree or higher in an applied biology discipline. (e.g. epidemiology, nutrition, environmental health, biostatistics, bioengineering, biotechnology, environmental science, conservation biology, wildlife management, exercise physiology, pathology, nutrition science). OR 3.A Master's degree or higher in medicine or health care including graduate or professional degrees such as MD, DO, DDS/DMD, DPM, DVM, PA, DPT, DC, ND, MBChB, MBBS). OR 4. A Master's degree or higher in biology education, science education or secondary education with 18 semester graduate credits in biology and/or applied biology courses (see criteria A and B). The required 18 credits of graduate coursework may include up to 6 semester hours of science teaching methods courses. Desired Qualifications A. A Master's degree or higher in a biology or applied biology discipline. B. Two (2) or more years of full-time experience teaching college-level anatomy and physiology. C. One (1) year of full-time experience teaching biology at the community-college level. D. One (1) year of experience teaching hybrid or online college-level biology. E. One (1) year of experience integrating active-learning strategies in teaching an underprepared and diverse student body. F. Demonstrated a commitment to professional development in the last five (5) years. Special Working Conditions
