Position Description

  • Direct the personnel and activities of this section to provide specialized contractual, marketing program, and technical services to all Santee Cooper Large Light & Power customers to allow our customers to be more competitive in their markets, be more effective in their use of electricity, increase our profitability, increase customer satisfaction with Santee Cooper, and increase the likelihood that Santee Cooper will continue to serve the customer.


  • Essential Job Tasks:
  • Supervises the negotiation, development, implementation, and administration of power contracts with large industrial customers, which represent about 25% of Santee Cooper's annual revenues, and any amendments to established contracts.
  • Coordinates Santee Cooper response to requests from industrial customers.
  • Assists and provides support for the attraction of new large industrial customers into Santee Cooper's service territory.
  • Includes coordinating with local and state economic development organizations as well as Santee Cooper personnel to develop contracts beneficial to both the customer and Santee Cooper.
  • Establishes and maintains personal contact with each industrial customer through visits to their plants and by working closely with Customers through Santee Coopers Industrial Customer Association.
  • Provides auditing and engineering services to industrial customers for resolution of high bill complaints and identification of opportunities to reduce energy costs or eliminating customer problems. This may involve demand and/or consumption reduction and/or rate schedule analysis.
  • Develops and recommends to management and Board of Directors, if appropriate, policies, programs or procedures utilizing industrial services to retain or increase industrial loads.
  • Effectively manages the resources of the unit to plan, develop, implement, and administer cost effective load management, conservation, marketing, technical services, alternative or amended rate schedules and sales programs for Santee Coopers large industrial customers.
  • Evaluates program cost effectiveness and participation levels and implements measures to meet corporate load management goals.
  • Coordinates with other units in the company to obtain management and Board of Directors approval.
  • Formulates work plans, budgets and controls for all sales, marketing and demand side management activities for industrial customers.
  • Provides existing industrial customers assistance in designing modifications or additions to their facilities.
  • Reviews designs and recommends energy efficient measures to Professional Engineers and Architects to assist customers in obtaining buildings and equipment which are efficient to operate.
  • Assists in preparing engineering calculations to support equipment installation.
  • Coordinates delivery of electricity between customers and Santee Cooper Power Delivery units. This requires thorough knowledge and understanding of the operation and maintenance of Santee Cooper's transmission and distribution systems.
  • Formulates plans for equipment and practices relating to equipment specific to each customer which will provide quality electric service that meets the needs of the customer.
  • Promotes the sale of additional services from Santee Cooper to Large Light & Power customers.
  • Performs specialized technical and engineering projects as required.
  • Supervises the administration of the customer credit review procedure.
  • Monitors financial status and credit worthiness of large industrial customers.
  • Recommends specific actions to minimize Santee Cooper credit risk from customers on credit watch.


  • Position Requirements

  • This position may be eligible for hybrid (remote and in person arrangement).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited school + 8 years experience in electric utility marketing or related field or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited school + 6 years experience in electric utility marketing or related field.
  • Professional Engineer Registration required.
  • 3 years supervisory experience preferred.


  • Compensation Information:
    $114,360 - $142,940 (min. - mid.)
