Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an exciting position in our sunny Scottsdale, Arizona location. The MUOS program is seeking a Deputy Program Manager Engineering (DPME) to manage multiple large task orders. The DPME will lead and manage the cost, schedule and technical execution of development and sustainment efforts exucuted by multiple functional teams that support numerous task orders. In this role you'll plan, authorize and monitor engineering work by managing a team of top talent. You'll ensure that the total system is integrated, tested and verified while keeping your team motivated and focused on project goals. It's an exceptional challenge for a true technical leader.

What you bring to the table:

  • A Bachelor's of Science in Engineering, a related specialized area or field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Substantial leadership skills and proven team building and motivation skills
  • Proven problem-solving skills in complex environments
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply project leadership principles including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls for large complex programs
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral, to executive management, stakeholders/customers, peers, and to your teams.
  • Ability to escalate impediments, identify, manage and mitigate risks and issues

  • Direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering project within area of assigned responsibility
  • Be an advocate and facilitator of continuous process improvement and infrastructure change
  • Supervise and manage lower level employees
  • Lead regular communication with project customer, supplier(s), project team, and internal management
  • Deal regularly with support functions outside of project assignment
  • Serve as consultant to senior management and customers on long-range company planning
  • Effectively choose the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products
  • Leads medium to large proposals with identification of cross business unit strengths and technical shortcoming
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
  • Guides the successful completion of major programs and projects
  • Can facilitate and coach across multiple teams
  • Solid grasp on how to scale Lean and Agile practices


Target salary range: USD $164,030.00/Yr. - USD $181,970.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
