Primary Function: To supervise, develop, plan and coordinate the College's Student Life & Leadership Development programs and to participate as a member of the Academic and Student Affairs division to achieve the goals of the division and the College. Responsibilities:(1) Develops long-range strategic plans for the Student Life and Leadership Development department, including program development and policy advancement. (2) Supervises the Associate Director of Student Life at Pocono, Assistant Director of Student Life at Bethlehem, & Secretary. (3) Leads the Student Life & Leadership Development staff and student leaders in the planning and executing of student-driven, data-based activities and events that can serve the campus community. (4) Serves as a resource person for student leadership and campus life activities that encourage community service, diversity, inclusion, and leadership development. (5) Monitors financial accounts for student organizations and oversees reconciliation of daily receipts.(6) Develops and executes programs tailored toward specific populations (e.g., adult, online, at-risk - minority, male, etc.), in partnership with other departments (e.g., International, CCEI). (7) Collaborates with the Director of Student Engagement and Belonging, including serving on the Student Engagement Committee, and other departments such as Athletics, Residence Life and the Center for Community, Equity and Inclusion to maximize student engagement in campus activities. (8) Collaborates with Director of Student Engagement and Belonging to perform related needs and outcomes assessments and tracking efforts, including use of student engagement platform. (9) Develops and oversees the Student Life and Leadership Development budget with the Associate Director at Pocono. (10) Processes requests (through the College's provisioning process), reviews, and processes contracts for special events. (11) Provides support and assistance for special student events at the College. (12) Serves as the lead advisor for Student Senate. (13) Serves as a primary advisor to the Tau Gamma Chapter of PTK. (14) Participates in Student Affairs-sponsored events, including Open Houses, Spartan & Quad Fest, and other programs and events as assigned. (15) Updates and maintains the department's website. (16) Collaborates with key College-wide offices and staff/faculty that represent the Bethlehem and Fowler Campuses by participating on College-wide committees and community events as appropriate. (17) Maintains periodic presence on Pocono campus. (18) Performs other duties, including, but not limited to, special projects and other responsibilities as assigned Organizational Relationships: (1) Responsible to the Associate Dean of Student Life for performance of assigned responsibilities. (2) Works closely with various departments as detailed above. (3) Relates to college and department goals. (4) Functions as an active member of the College's mid-management team. (5) Leadership competencies are exhibited in a manner consistent with institutional norms such that positive team/employee relations are fostered and employee developmental needs are proactively addressed. Performance Standards: Performance in this position is considered satisfactory when: (1) mutually agreed upon objectives have been attained within a specified period. (2) Responsibilities of the position have been carried out at a level consistent with performance objectives. (3) Effective cooperative relationships exist with the other members of the administrative team. Qualifications: (1) Education: Master's Degree in student personnel or a related field from a Councilfor HigherEducation Accreditation (CHEA) approved Institutional Accreditor college required. (2) Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: (a) knowledge of a student governance and student leadership theory; (b) good organizational, communicative, and leadership skills; (c) ability to work with small and large groups; (d) ability to function effectively as a member of an administrative team; (e) ability to relate to varied needs of students and staff; (f) good interpersonal skills; (g) ability to work with and relate to community constituencies; (h) proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Excel; experience in creating and maintaining well-organized and thorough reports, willingness to learn new systems (3) Experience: (a) Three (3) years related experience in the area of Student Life and/or Leadership Development is required; (b) demonstrated competency to serve in an administrative capacity. |
