Job Description

Position Summary: The Senior Research Maintenance Technician oversees the operation and maintenance of mechanical, refrigeration, electronic, and pneumatic control equipment at the Animal Science Research Center (ASRC), ensuring optimal environmental conditions for research activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the operation of all mechanical and refrigeration equipment for the ASRC Environmental Physiology Core Facility (Unit C) and four small animal environmental chambers in Unit B.
  • Maintain the operation of all electronic and pneumatic control equipment, as well as electronic measuring instruments for Unit C and Unit B environmental chambers.
  • Schedule and maintain environmental conditions as dictated by the research schedule in Unit C.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of ASRC joint-use equipment, including water treatment equipment, ice makers, walk-in freezers, and coolers.
  • Perform general building upkeep to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri.
Shift

Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Occasional weekends and holidays

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in operating and maintaining mechanical and refrigeration equipment.
  • Knowledge of electronic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain precise environmental conditions.
  • Physical strength and stamina to effectively perform tasks related to equipment maintenance and construction.
  • Ability to independently execute assignments with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
  • Proficiency in plumbing and electrical work, with hands-on experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.50 - $34.18 Commensurate with experience.
