Description

Are you interested in developing advanced modeling and simulation tools used to evaluate the performance of strategic missile systems and hypersonic vehicles?

Are you passionate about developing technologies for the next generation of national defense?

Do you enjoy solving exciting problems with a diverse team in a dynamic environment?

If so, we are seeking an engineer to help us develop modeling and simulation tools, including 3 Degree of Freedom (DoF) and 6DoF simulations, and interface with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) test environments, for strategic flight systems.

You will join a talented and diverse team of engineers in the Flight Systems Performance group in the Force Projection Sector who work on a wide range of exciting challenges and technologies for various government sponsors like the US Navy and US Air Force. As a member of the team, you will use high-fidelity models to perform trade studies and performance assessments, trajectory optimization, and assist in the development of missile models and simulations, including interfacing with HWIL test configurations. Additionally, you will participate in flight test and evaluation activities.

As a Senior Modeling and Simulation Engineer your work will involve...

  • Developing and using modeling and simulation tools to conduct trade studies, performance assessments, and conceptual design studies of strategic missile systems and hypersonic vehicles
  • Missile test and evaluation activities to include test operations and pre/post flight evaluations
  • Leading and contributing to analysis efforts
  • Collaboration with cross-discipline teams to advise government and contractor partners on engineering challenges and design trades
  • Producing reports and presentations to communicate results to team members and government partners

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Have 5 or more years in an engineering discipline such as modeling and simulation, aerodynamics, flight dynamics, navigation, guidance, and control, propulsion or missile test and evaluation
  • Have experience working with and developing modeling and simulation tools
  • Have familiarity with flight vehicle physics and dynamics
  • Are proficient in MATLAB and Simulink
  • Have experience with Software in the Loop (SWIL) and/or Hardware in the Loop (HWIL) simulations
  • Have experience developing 3 Degree of Freedom (DoF) and/or 6DoF simulations
  • Are willing and able to travel occasionally to attend meetings or tests at other government and contractor sites.
  • Will be comfortable working in closed area facilities.
  • Have a Secret level security clearance and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you ...

  • Have a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Have 10 or more years in an engineering discipline such as modeling and simulation, aerodynamics, flight dynamics, navigation, guidance, and control, propulsion or missile test and evaluation
  • Have experience using optimal control software packages such as OTIS, POST or GPOPS
  • Have experience generating autocode in Simulink
  • Have experience programming in Simulink and/or C/C++
