About the Job

Position Overview:

The graduate research assistant will be working on a project to improve the at-home recovery of patients who have had emergency abdominal surgery. The research assistant will assist project faculty and staff with coordinating and conducting patient interviews, and analyzing multiple methods data. The research assistant will also help create a research plan and study protocol for conducting focus groups with clinician, and help conduct and plan for (e.g., scheduling) focus groups.

Key Responsibilities:

50%: Conducting interviews

  • Help coordinate, conduct, and analyze patient interviews

35%: Conducting focus groups

  • Help coordinate, conduct, and analyze clinician focus groups

10%: Data monitoring and quantitative analysis

  • Monitor REDCap and analyze quantitative survey data
  • Analyze quantitative survey data

5%: Study planning

  • Create healthcare provider focus group guide (and/or electronic survey)
  • Create IRB protocol for healthcare provider focus groups
Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Graduate student in health related field
  • Excellent organization, planning, interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including Excel spreadsheets
  • Written, verbal and comprehension abilities in the English language
  • Knowledge and skills in use of APA style formatting of references and Publications
  • Experience conducting qualitative data analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate student in Nursing
  • Experience conducting focus groups

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20.50 - $25.50 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.

Work Location: In Person
