Position Overview

Position Summary:
The College of Education and Technology at Eastern New Mexico University seeks candidates for a fulltime position as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Counseling to teach 12 credit hours (Fall/Spring; summer optional) of graduate courses in Counseling. This is a residential appointment and campus presence is required


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching graduate courses in counseling (professional orientation, advanced psych for counselors, practicums/internships, school counseling, group counseling, and others)
  • Advise students effectively
  • Engage in scholarly activities
  • Provide service to the profession and University communities
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. required in Counselor Education or related field (ABD will be considered) and a minimum of three years of experience as a clinical counselor, or equivalent education
  • Hold an independent license in counseling and be eligible for professional practice in New Mexico or be able to obtain a NM license
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Distance education learning platforms, clinical counseling, supervision of practicums and internships, teaching skills, advising students, and student organizations
  • Candidates must have the ability to work well in a collegial setting and willingness to teach using traditional and distance education (online and other) technologies

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
