Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The incumbent acts as both a functional and technical leader in the development, upgrade, enhancement, and support of HIM and CDI department systems. Incumbent plays an ongoing key role in the development and maintenance of hospital coding databases and systems, provide key performance indicators for leadership to make operational decisions. Facilitates decisions and work efforts which affect applications and patient care practices. Provide oversite of external data reporting to HCAI and error tolerance mitigation

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong aptitude in applying Allscripts/Eclipsys Sunrise Record Manager-HIM and other vendor-specific knowledge regarding coding conventions, report generation and system maintenance
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Minimum 5 years of acute multi-specialty hospital coding experience
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 CM and CPT coding
  • Knowledge of system architecture and file structures for development, maintenance and enhancement tasks for system maintained
  • Familiar with Inpatient, Ambulatory Surgery, and ED HCAI discharge data reporting and submission
  • Experience within a healthcare professional or administrative department and/or knowledge of healthcare clinical practices and interface standards
  • Experience in development/ implementation/ integration and support of an EMR systems legal medical record
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Demonstrated experience using / implementing Coding, Administrative or Clinical Care Systems (examples: 3M coding, Sierra data reporting)
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to self initiate and effectively problem solve issues
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to function as a project leader and project member
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Ability to apply logical troubleshooting and analysis techniques for the purpose of problem resolution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • RHIT, or CCS preferred.
  • Project Coordination / management experience
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • Experience working in a HIM department
  • Experience with EPIC, 3M, HCAI Sierra and other related HIM department systems
