YOU

As a Fabricator, you will be responsible for bending, seating, flanging and top flanging material according to work order and production drawing specifications in such a manner as to achieve safety, quality, efficiency and lean production goals. Willingness to learn and operate other manual fabrication operations such as shear, weld, punch press, paint, and CNC required. This position will also serve as the backup welder when needed and will be required to pass Simpson's welding certification.

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, with overtime as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Operate press brake and other manual fabrication equipment to manufacture parts according to prints and work orders. (70%)

Perform quality inspections to drawings and specifications per procedures using various equipment such as calipers, micrometers and tape measure. Communicate with department leadership regarding issues and improvements. (15%)

Package finished products in cartons, applying labels, and palletizing finished products. Gather and stage work. Maintain a clean work environment. (10%)

Act as back up welder as needed. (5%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma, GED Required
• 1 year related fabrication experience and/or training.
• 1 year related welding experience and/or training.
• Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Operation Monitoring: Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• Safety: Consistently exemplify the highest of safety standards and monitor others to the same standards.
• Selective Attention: The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
• Mathematical Reasoning: Able to apply basic algebraic and geometric concepts. Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimal equivalents.
• Measurements: Able to read a tape measure to 1/32" tolerance and to use combination squares to measure angles to +/- 1 degree
• Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in Inver Grove Heights, MN.

Pay

$17.31 - $25.96 / hour
