What to Expect
The Robotics Engineer will be responsible for sustaining, optimizing, and improving robotic systems within the coatings shop. This role requires strong theoretical knowledge and extensive hands-on expertise in industrial robotics, including programming, commissioning, simulation, and integration with manufacturing technologies. The ideal candidate has experience supporting new product introductions, leading equipment installation or upgrading projects, and driving continuous process improvements across multiple robot platforms. This position focuses heavily on supporting daily production operations, ensuring equipment reliability, troubleshooting complex issues, and maintaining consistent throughput and quality.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary technical owner for all robotic systems in the coatings shop, supporting daily production and resolving robot-related issues quickly and effectively
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for chronic failures, repeat faults, cycle-time losses, and quality-impacting issues
- Support maintenance teams by troubleshooting advanced breakdowns involving robots, end-effectors, safety systems, motion paths, and automation interfaces
- Maintain, update, and optimize robot programs to improve uptime, quality, cycle time, path consistency, and process stability
- Execute advanced robot programming, including safety configurations such as FANUC DCS and KUKA SafeOperation
- Sustain and continuously improve coating and application processes through path refinement, parameter optimization, and integration of new technologies
- Manage backups, documentation, robot configurations, procedures, and change-control records to ensure system stability
- Use Process Simulate for robotic simulations, offline programming, path optimization, fixture adjustments, and support of new product introductions
- Plan and support sustaining projects, equipment upgrades, end-effector changes, and contractor-led installation activities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, maintenance, quality, equipment engineering) to execute improvements and maintain high system uptime
