Sentry Insurance is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in our Middleton, WI office location. The Senior Software Engineer leads and provides in-depth input into the identification and development of insurance business applications.

  • Contribute: You'll work in a full-stack, cloud-first, development environment where you'll have the chance to work in many industry-leading technologies. In this role, you will:

    • Lead the development, implementation, and enhancement of new and existing client and server-side applications based on in-depth insurance domain and product knowledge.

    • Develop audit testing procedures, debugging procedures, and coordination with other Information Technology personnel to communicate information to facilitate compatibility of all systems throughout Sentry.

    • Respond to application production problems by analyzing the problem, formulating a solution, and changing or repairing the applications to avoid costly interruption of services to users.

    • Ensure continuous operations of existing applications.

    • Ensure complete and accurate documentation of applications.

    • Work collaboratively with other developers and engineers to ensure best practices are followed.

    • Review and recommend changes to code updates that are introduced into the applications.

  • What it Takes:

    • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive computer programming experience.

As part of the 5 years of progressive computer programming experience required, the individual must have:

  • 4 years of experience with OOAD design principals and modeling tools.

  • 4 years of experience in JEE technologies including: JSP, Servlets, Spring, Spring Boot, JDBC, JPA (JPQL), Hibernate, jQuery, Javascript and SOAP and REST Web Services.

  • 4 years of experience with SQL Server, SQL and stored procedures.

  • 2 years of Guidewire Configuration and Integration experience, with at least 1 year of experience in Guidewire BillingCenter (version 8.0 or 10), or 1 year of experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter (version 8.0 or 10).
