The candidate will be part of the Data and AI team at CareDx and will be responsible for all aspects of bioinformatics analysis for NGS IVD products to aid the diagnosis and treatment of transplant patients. They will update and improve existing HLA typing and chimerism monitoring pipelines incorporating new algorithms and technologies as they become available. They will improve quality control checks, sequence alignment and allele calling algorithms.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with transitional scientists and clinical research associates for data analysis, and data interpretation/troubleshooting
  • Contributing to research projects aimed at improving HLA typing methodologies and identifying genetic markers associated with transplant outcomes
  • Developing tools and automated analysis for quality control and troubleshooting
  • Work directly with the experimental lab members to analyze data and address scientific problems with bioinformatics techniques and tools
  • Design, develop, and operate computational pipelines for the analysis of next-generation sequencing and genomic data
  • Evaluate performance of novel technology platforms and assays
  • Maintain detailed records of all analyses
  • Present results and progress updates at lab meetings and make presentations to experimental and scientific collaborators
  • Attend seminars, lectures, and training courses to learn new computational biology skills and learn new programming languages or techniques as necessary

Desired Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, Physics or related fields.
  • Expertise in bioinformatics, computational genomics.
  • Proficiency in computing and programming (Python, R, others).
  • Experience with NGS data (HLA typing, targeted sequencing, WGS/WES, RNA-seq)
  • Experience with Linux environment and scripting.
  • Experience with version control (git, etc)
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
