In this role as a Principal Electrical Engineer for our Battery Technology group, you will collaborate with multiple teams cross functionally to focus on battery safety and reliability. 50% of your time will be running tests, 25% presenting and analyzing data, and the remaining 25% will be root cause analysis and proposal of resolving issues. You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

• Serve as a role model for Milwaukee Tool's culture while mentoring, guiding, and coaching junior Engineers. Grow your team's technical capability and future leadership. Develop leadership skills to manage a small team of engineers.
• Demonstrate Milwaukee Tool's culture of high performance and agility by independently creating work breakdown structures for your projects while driving to critical milestones.
• Independently track projects to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee process. Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that meet the organization's needs.
• Provide candid and effective communications up, down, and across the organization on progress, barrier removal, and escalation of business risks/opportunities.
• Design, prototype, and test lithium-ion batteries with limited oversight.
• Provide engineering support on high complexity projects.
• Design and qualify new designs to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI.
• Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads, and data acquisition systems.

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:

• Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field.
• Seven plus yearsof experience in system architecture, design, or development.
• 3+ years ofTechnical leadership, project management or mentoring others.
• Two years of Li-Ion, NiCAD, Lead Acid, or other chemistry; battery system design, architecture, testing, or integration.
• Operating various lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, and e-loads.
• Ability to travel5%of the time (domestic and international).

The Principal Systems Engineer collaborates with a world class team of cross-functional engineers, product marketing, and other key stakeholders in utilizing Systems Engineering approaches to enable efficient development of innovative electric power tool and equipment systems. You will support the development and refinement of lightweight tools and processes for execution of system engineering practices within an agile, high-velocity product development environment.

You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

Manage and lead a small- to medium-sized team of electricalengineers in the designing, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of embedded electronics for a variety of projects.

Define and maintain system architectures including hardware and firmware interfaces, configuration management, etc.

Generate, maintain and communicate technical and business evidence enabling product roadmaps and develop and communicate the supporting technology roadmapsNegotiate, define, and maintain electronic technology and platform roadmaps enabling product roadmaps defined by product marketing.

Lead system requirements definition and documentation from voice of customer, business, and regulation.

Collaborate on the development of system integration, verification and validation strategies.

Mentor and coach the team in engineering best practices including task management, Gantt chartswork breakdown structure definition, root cause analysis, system architecture and requirements definition. circuit / PCB design, and PCBA manufacturing.

Champion technology investigations including system requirements, architecture definitions, and reusability strategies.

Establish and maintain a strong awareness and database of competitive offerings, product strategies, and business climate to shape a best-in-class roadmap.

Quickly, effectively, and candidly frame-up and escalate business risks/opportunities to senior leadership.

Effectively communicate and motivate up, down and across the organization to a diverse range of technical and non-technical team members.

Drive urgency in project schedules and accountability for establishing and achieving key project metrics that meet the organization's needs.

Ensure the team is given the time and resources required to succeed by creating and managing robust project roadmaps and resource plans with converged project scope.Facilitate cross-project coordination to identify and mitigate potential project dependency based roadblocks.

Develop plans to evaluate and assess the emerging technology market space to fit/compliment complement Milwaukee Tool product initiatives and development.

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Systems Engineering, ElectricalEngineering, or related field.

7+ years of experience in systems engineering, embedded systems, power electronics, or related field.

Leadership experience.

Experience with systems thinking and applying the systems approach to engineered systemsDemonstrated proficiency in the application of systems thinking and systems engineering methodologies in the development of embedded systems.

Experience with inter- and/or intrasystem communications, such as SPI, I2C, CAN, RS485, etc.

Excellentproblem-solving skills, exercises independent judgement and works well under pressure in a dynamic environment.

Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).

Experience with model-based systems engineering, Universal Modeling Language (UML), and/or Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
