Nuclear Quality Control /Non-Destructive Technician II This position is accountable for providing effective quality control (QC) and nondestructive examination (NDE) support for the Oconee Nuclear Station which will assure that nuclear plant quality is maintained in accordance with applicable codes and standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. The candidate will work under the supervision of the Nuclear Oversight (NOS) QC Supervisor. Peer and interface positions for the job include mechanical/I&C maintenance technicians, engineers, project management personnel, environmental and radiation protection technicians, ISI, and operations. In the performance of their daily activities, thetech will routinely interface with outage management, operations, ALARA, and system support engineers. Internal customers include plant maintenance and major projects personnel. External customers may include the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Authorized Nuclear Inservice Inspectors (ANIIs), and commercial vendors. Responsibilities:
- Perform QC inspections / NDE examinations that require working knowledge of ASME code related piping, valves, pumps, pressure vessels, structural components, motors, actuators, and electrical components.
- Review and interpret technical documentation that include procedures, specifications, and vendor manuals etc.
- Document detailed quality QC inspections / NDE reports in applicable databases.
- Generate non-conformances when standards are not met.
- Reviewing work order tasks, work package instructions, procedures, inspection plans, etc., as part of the planning process to assure QC inspection criteria related to QC Hold Points and Inspection points meet applicable codes and standards, regulatory requirements, and the Duke Energy quality program requirements.
- Be individually accountable for monitoring and maintaining qualifications and proficiency to ensure annual performance and recertification requirements are met.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work safely in an environment in which daily exposures are in high noise areas, possible exposure to radioactive materials, chemicals, requiring dress-out, climbing, work from scaffolds, high temperatures, confined space, and dust/dirt. (office and nuclear power plant environment)
- Regular schedule is Monday-Thursday (4-10's) and providing QC support outside of regular schedule as needed is required.
- Possible shift work based on needs of activity (outage / on-line).
- Provide shared resource support to other Duke Energy sites.
- Radiological work environment.

Basic/Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of high school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience in equivalent inspection, examination or testing activities
Desired Qualifications:
- Working knowledge and understanding of the QC program and other related documents
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in 2 or more of the following areas: Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Welding, Coatings, HMSLT
- Minimum of 2 years as a certified QC inspector in 2 or more of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Coatings, Visual Weld, PT, MT, UTT, VT-1,2,3, HMSLT, and IWE/IWL
- Experience with NAS/EWE work packages.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and/or with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated planning and organizational skills.
- Experience reading and interpreting procedures, drawings, specifications, and codes.
- Demonstrated experience in the QC program utilizing the certifications.
- Demonstrated experience in work package and Weld Document reviews for selection of QC Hold Points.
- Demonstrated ability in communicating by actively listening, expressing self clearly and consistently to promote positive engagement.
Specific Requirements:
- The candidate will obtain and maintain certifications in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil (Coatings, Concrete/Grout, Structural Steel, Firestops, Soils), Welding, PT, MT, UT and ISI VT-1,2,3, IWE/IWL.
- Ability to satisfy all security badging requirements to obtain nuclear plant access (PAT, RWT & FFD).
- Ability to pass applicable visual examination and Color Vision Test.
- Overtime as needed to support on-line / outage activities.
- Call-out (on call requirement).
- Being on a rotating "on call" basis for 7 days/week and 24 hrs./day.
- Some travel required in support of other stations in the Duke Energy Fleet.
