The Position

The Network and Systems Specialist successfully maintains the College's telecommunications infrastructure; ensuring the College's telecommunications and supporting systems are world class, up-to-date, reliable, secure, and provides an environment needed by our clients. They work effectively with the IT staff and campus community to ensure that the upgrades and changes are in line with the strategic goals of the College and needs of our clients. They are responsible for the assigned systems performance and recovery, planning to ensure scalability, and equipment lifecycle management. The Network and Systems Specialist also maintains and supports the low voltage cabling and CATV solutions for the College.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for telecommunications systems and equipment for the campus community
  • Maintain, monitor, and support the call management and voicemail phone systems for the College
  • Ensure Telecommunications billing, invoicing and inventory is complete and accurate
  • Maintain and support Point of Sale devices
  • Administer the cell phone program for the College
  • Maintain and support the College's door and card access system
  • Maintain and support residence hall common area TVs
  • Maintain and support cable and CATV solutions for the College
  • Solve problems creatively and keep up-to-date with new technology
  • Know and follow data information security and other college policies
  • Perform other related duties in support of the Information Technology office

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 3 Years Minimum of IT technical troubleshooting required
  • Higher Education Experience preferred
  • Experience with Transact preferred
  • Vendor management experience preferred
  • Cisco certification preferred
  • CompTIA certification(s) preferred
  • Effective communication with managers, coworkers and clients to provide excellent client service and consulting
  • Reliable attendance
