Network Engineer

Position Summary:

As Network Engineer, you will provide support to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWCPCD) in Panama City, FL. This position is contingent on contract award and funding (anticipated Q1 of 2025).

Clearance Requirement:


  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret security clearance


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to NSWC PCD Network Operations including the installation, configuration and maintenance of servers, virtual servers, DevOps, network switches, routers, firewalls, wireless controllers, and wireless access points.
  • Support configuration changes to the network utilizing the administration tools provided such as any network management system, configuration tools and remediation tools.
  • Support all the network installs, changes, and maintenance of all buildings being remodeled or built.
  • Configure network infrastructure changes to ensure compliance with current STIGs.
  • Utilize administrative and remediation tools to configure changes to network infrastructure devices.
  • Maintain current iOS versions on all network infrastructure devices.
  • Eliminate vulnerabilities on all network infrastructure devices.
  • Ensure connectivity between network infrastructure devices and network management systems.
  • Troubleshoot network outages to include individual port issues.
  • Prepare and maintain network infrastructure drawings to include floor plans, face layouts, and logical drawings.
  • Configure switch changes as required to support lab moves and changes.
  • Write, update, change and maintain new and existing standard operating procedures.
  • Configure and support the Atlassian DevOp environment.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain RDT&E systems in a Windows and Linux environment.
  • Create and maintain Navy RMF Documentation
  • Accomplish any other duties to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the RDT&E network.
  • The Contractor shall support DRMO of obsolete or excess equipment as directed by Network Operations such as preparing equipment for DRMO (e.g. declassifying, hard drive destruction, etc.), moving equipment to DRMO, and administrative support of required documents for DRMO.


  • Assists with network administration projects as assigned by Network Operations.
  • Assists with technical and administrative functions of the network to include troubleshooting outages/issues, providing technical solutions, configuration of network infrastructure devices, maintenance of network devices, and configuration of network management tools.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and resolves network tickets from network users.


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Associate's degree in a IT/computer related field
  • IAT level I or level II (depending on role) compliant certification


  • For Jr. 0 - 3 years' experience
  • For Mid. 3 - 9 years' experience
  • For Sr. 9 or more years' experience
  • Experience with configuration of Cisco Networking Products.
  • Capable of implementation and analysis of DoD IT requirements including STIGs, RMF requirements
  • Experience with the DoD networks.


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Advanced certifications such as CCNA, RHCE, MCSE, VMWare etc.
  • Experience with Navy RMF and Navy and NAVSEA networks


Physical Demands and Expectations:

  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
