Job Output

The Tooling Specialist will be responsible for providing technical expertise, troubleshooting, and training to our factories in various tooling related areas including but not limited to, punch presses, dies, pins, fissure plates, sanders, saws, etc. The Tooling Specialist will also maintain key vendor relationships and look for areas to develop new tooling or suppliers while also improving productivity and quality. The Tooling Specialist will also support various R&D and NPD rapid prototyping.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Technical expert for Armstrong plant tooling: fissure plates, embossing plates, sander, presses, dies, pins, saw blades, etc
    • Providing plant troubleshooting support and training
    • R&D and NPD support in prototyping
    • Capital design/install/startup support
  • Maintain key vendor relationships
  • Identify and investigate improvement opportunities: alternate vendors and/or materials
  • Audit plant tooling and provide guidance on replacement
  • Assist with procurement of replacement tooling: POs, inspection/proofing, crating/shipping

Desired:

  • Trade school certification
  • CAD experience, CNC operation, 3D printing?
  • Hands on experience with press/die operation and maintenance
  • Familiarity with casting process

Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment when entering the floor of manufacturing facilities based on the specific requirements of each location.

  • Ability to travel to Armstrong facilities and vendors, factory troubleshooting can require getting in/around equipment, lifting 50 lbs
