Position Overview: Telecommunications Specialist provides technical work/expertise on various IT and telecommunications projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in IT systems and telecommunications technologies, a proven ability to lead teams, and a dedication to delivering quality solutions that meet user requirements. Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Direct and manage technical work on assigned projects, ensuring alignment with user requirements and organizational goals.
- Technical Analysis & Documentation: Perform analyses, prepare technical documentation, and deliver briefings and presentations to stakeholders.
- On-site Management: Lead on-site management for installations, overseeing processes to ensure success and compliance with project plans.
- System Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Install, operate, maintain, configure, troubleshoot, and repair IT systems, including devices, circuits, cables, components, software, and end-user devices.
- Project Planning Support: Assist in developing and managing project plans, including monitoring task performance, work products, and adherence to schedules.
- Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with Vendor Project Managers, Contracting Officer Representatives (COR), and program points of contact to ensure accurate technical solutions and user satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience:
- A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive IT experience.
- Experience with projects demonstrating proficiency in the following technical areas:
- Telecom Installation and Maintenance: Installing and maintaining ISDN, analog, and VoIP phones and endpoints; troubleshooting telephone hardware/software issues; managing circuits (e.g., SDH, SONET, MPLS, DSL, Ethernet).
- Telecom Configuration and Troubleshooting: Configuring and resolving issues with VoIP hard/softphones, voicemail profiles, Extension Mobility profiles, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager systems.
- Project and Equipment Management: Supporting enterprise voice services projects, providing inventory updates, and managing telecom assets using IT Asset Management Systems (ITAMS) and Telephone Management Systems (TMS).
- Logistics Support: Delivering and retrieving IT/telecom equipment; attending working group meetings and providing incident reports for equipment failures.
- The Specialist should be adaptable to last-minute changes in workload, capable of handling tasks of varying scope, and able to collaborate with on-site points of contact for physical installations. A valid driver's license is required for work-related travel.
- At least one project meeting the above requirements must have occurred within the last three (3) years.
- Security Clearance:
- Must possess IT-II security clearance or have a current National Agency Check with Local Agency Check and Credit Check (NACLC) at the time of proposal submission.
