Posting Summary
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care ( UCHC) is seeking a Mental Health Clinician II for the Southwoods State Prison, located in Bridgeton, NJ. The Mental Health Clinician II completes specialized psychological testing and assessment of clinical needs of adult inmates sentenced to the Department of Corrections.

Duties include:

  • Plays a lead role for assigned key services or projects

    • Champions the utilization of evidence-based and preferred practices by developing own skills, mentoring others, and providing case consultation, as observed by supervisor.
    • Under supervision, plays a lead role in developing and delivering targeted clinical services to meet the needs of designated populations, as observed by supervisor.



  • Conducts psychological testing and evaluations of referred adult inmates/patients from ages 18 and up.

    • As assigned, conducts intellectual and personality testing, mental status exams, and/or suicide assessments,
    • and/or developmental assessments, and/or sex offender specific assessments and/or other related evaluations to assess risk of dangerous behavior toward self and/or others


  • As assigned, provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy as clinically indicated to assigned inmates/patients.
    • Provides therapy with empathy and concern for the inmates/patients as indicated by supervisory observation

  • As assigned, assumes overall case management responsibilities for assigned inmates/patients including coordination f treatment and liaison with community agencies as measured by supervisory observation and record review.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Clinical-Counseling Psychology, or Forensic Psychology. Trained in psychological testing and measurement.
  • Minimum of two (2) years post master's experience, which may be substituted with a Doctorate in psychology.
  • Valid Driver's License. Must possess own vehicle to travel between sites.

  • Licensure in mental health field (e.g.: Licensed Associate Counselor [LAC], Licensed Professional Counselor [LPC], Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor [LCADC]
